The Transnational Impact of Latin Theatre from the Early Modern Netherlands

Dramaweb

We have created a preliminary database of Neo-Latin dramas that may serve as a virtual laboratory for the study of Latin drama from the early modern period. It contains a large number of plays, from both the Netherlands and other countries. We wish to make the enormous variety and richness of early modern drama more accessible, and we also hope that the database will enable more digital research into the circulation of subjects and themes and into the exchange between Neo-Latin and vernacular playwrights. The texts are meant as research tools, and cannot be quoted as such. Either an early modern printing or a modern edition should be consulted. For a more tagged version of some of these texts, we refer to the Dracor site, at which a Neo-Latin section is being constructed.
