Simply pressing your fingers on an electronic instrument that scans your fingerprints from various angles is all that is required for fingerprinting. During this procedure, the fingerprint scanner will create a digital replica of their fingerprints.
It takes roughly five minutes to do this task. Your fingerprints will then be digitally transmitted to the FBI, and you will receive confirmation that your fingerprints match those on file.
The subject must be willing to submit their fingers for scanning in order to do Live scan fingerprinting, which is why it cannot be done on children or the elderly who are physically unable of doing so.
